THE DEATH FORUM: GRIEF

- Talks by Ellie Harrison and Natalie Kane
- Tickets £3.50
- Bar open from 6pm

In our debut event we will be looking at the topic of grief. Both a deeply personal and universally shared experience, grief gives life meaning and holds it to ransom in equal measure. Can we break down the walls that grief creates and better understand our grieving experiences through art? With the developments of digital culture and technology how may grief take shape in the future? We will be seeking to explore all these questions and more.

Ellie Harrison, the highly acclaimed artist and performance maker will be taking us through a journey of the seven stages of grief via a talk on her project the Grief Series. This deeply impactful and collaborative collection ranges from an intimate one to one theatre work performed in hotel rooms, to the Unfair, a fully working victorian funfair centred around the theme of anger.

Second to the stage will be Natalie Kane, a writer and curator with a specialist interest in how the narratives of magic and hauntings pervade our relationship with technology. For the event Kane’s talk will be focusing on how digital culture has impacted our traditional grief rituals, and will be presenting ideas on how technology is set to shape the future of how we mourn.

The evening will conclude with a Q&A with the cafe bar open for drinks.
